Sleep On It

That’s one of the most important lessons I’ve learned this year. I’m all for being spontaneous and living in the moment, etc. But, there is nothing more dangerous (and no, not dangerous in a sexy way either, mind you, but more in the why-didn’t-you-think-that-through-it-was-dangerous way) than making a huge, profound decision (while they don’t appear to be facially but still are) and acting on it in a really brash way while your head is muddled and your heart is on overdrive from all the emotions coming at you.

Much more often than not, we should take and very much need time to process things. I understand reacting strongly to something and feeling intense feelings, but I also know that we are complex creatures and the importance of living is firmly rooted in the ability to act on the decisions that you make for yourself. So, yeah, sleep on it. Because really, there’s a fine line between spontaneity and stupidity.

If you want it badly enough or are set to do something that you’re sure of, you still will in the morning.

Love For Dr. Bailey

“I took care of my problem, by the way.”
“That sounds too easy. If it doesn’t feel like work, it’s not going to work.”

— Derek Shepherd, Miranda Bailey, “Grey’s Anatomy.”
